Jeanie Cooper was born in 1947 in the City of Gloucester where she had a Grammar School education. During her childhood she attended St. Catherine’s Anglican Church, being confirmed at the age of 14. She went on to Teacher Training College and spent 30 years teaching in Leicestershire and, from 1994, while still teaching, Jeanie spent a further 20 years as an additional School Inspector working for OFSTED.
Jeanie returned to the church in 1982 where she was an Organist, a member of the PCC and also Magazine Editor until she moved to Northumberland in 2011.
In 2009 Jeanie was licensed as a Lay Reader in the Anglican Church and she had many opportunities to lead a variety of Services and to preach regularly in the seven churches that made up the team ministry. She continued her preaching after her move to Northumberland in 2011.
In 2003 Jeanie bought a holiday home in Algorfa, Spain, where she spent many happy holidays. When in Spain, Jeanie attended Los Balcones Anglican church where she occasionally led a Service of Worship. During this time, she was also occasionally asked to preach at La Siesta Evangelical Church.
Jeanie and her husband, Geoff, decided to make Spain their permanent home in July 2016. They have both been married before and between them have 5 children and 9 grandchildren.
In November 2016 Jeanie was invited by the Elders to become a Minister at La Siesta Evangelical Church and share the running of the Church Ministry with Pastor Keith Brown. Jeanie says that for her “this was a late in life dream come true”. Jeanie was licenced as a Minister on the 21st January 2017 by both Pastor Abraham Garcia Rena, President of the Presbytery, and by Pastor Keith Brown. Jeanie has said that “her dream was fulfilled” as she is now able to conduct all Services, including that of Holy Communion. Jeanie has expressed her delight in working alongside Pastor Keith Brown and is thoroughly enjoying her new role.
